There is a short children’s chorus I recall from Sunday School that I learned as a little girl. It goes like this:

Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe.
Doing exactly what the Lord commands. Doing it happily.     
Action is the key, do it immediately; joy you will receive.

But what is obedience, and how do we learn it? Obedience is action that begins with trust. It requires submission and faith, especially when we cannot see or understand what God is doing. Yet obedience is how our faith grows and our relationship with Him deepens. For thousands of years, God has proven Himself faithful, not only to those who obey Him, but also to His children when they fail. His faithfulness is not transactional; it is who He is!

These devotionals are an invitation to trust our faithful God. Whether He calls you to something “big” or “small,” He remains the same. As you read, study His Word, and reflect, my prayer is that your trust in Him grows, and that your obedience becomes even the smallest seed of faith you offer back to Him.
