It seems that our world today is quite literally a mess. In reality, the church is not spared, but is dealing with the same worldly messes, and many of the same issues as the early church. To quote Ecclesiastes 1:9, “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”
The half-brother of Jesus, Jude, wrote the epistle of Jude to Jewish Christians who were living in Jerusalem. He explains in the first passages (Jude 3 in particular) that his original intent was to write a letter of encouragement on the topic of common salvation. Instead, he found it necessary to write in appeal to them “to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints”.
Join us this month as we explore what Jude means by “the faith” and how we are to “contend for” that faith.
